Kenworth Receives Clean Energy Award from Clean & Prosperous Washington

Kenworth recently received the first annual David & Patricia Giuliani Clean Energy Entrepreneur Award – presented by Washington Governor Jay Inslee on behalf of Clean & Prosperous Washington – during an event held recently at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle.

The award is named for the late David Giuliani – founder of Clean & Prosperous Washington – and his spouse Patricia Giuliani. Clean & Prosperous Washington is a project of the Washington Business Alliance.

Kenworth was honored for its industry-leading “Driving To Zero Emissions program that features the Class 8 Kenworth T680E, Class 7 K370E and Class 6 K270E battery electric vehicles, along with PACCAR Parts charging stations. A Kenworth T680E on display was assembled at the nearby Kenworth manufacturing plant in Renton, Washington.“It is a truly an honor to receive the first David and Patricia Giuliani Clean Energy Entrepreneur Award on Kenworth’s behalf. We thank Clean & Prosperous Washington for its leadership in this important environmental area,” said Erik Johnson, Kenworth general sales manager – West. Johnson called the Kenworth T680E shown at the event “a capable, zero emissions solution for many of the port drayage applications that make up a large share of the trucks in the region.”

Kenworth has been an important part of the Puget Sound community since 1923 and celebrates its centennial next year. “Kenworth’s continued development of zero emissions technology will ensure the next 100 years of Kenworth Truck Company and Washington’s economy, is a bright and sustainable one,” Johnson said.

“David Giuliani committed his life to advancing progress on climate change, and Kenworth is pleased to contribute to this effort by developing technology solutions, and making investments in our plants, for a more sustainable world,” said Genevieve Bekkerus, Kenworth director of marketing.

The Kenworth T680E is designed for pickup and delivery, regional haul and drayage applications, and is available in a day cab configuration as either a tractor or straight truck. The T680E has an 82,000 lb. gross vehicle weight rating and an estimated 150-mile operating range, depending on the application.

The K270E and K370E cabovers are designed for pickup and delivery and short regional haul operations. The electric powertrain is available with high-density battery packs of 141 kWh, 209 kWh, and 282 kWh that deliver up to 100-, 150- and 200-mile range, respectively, with zero emissions.

PACCAR Parts distributes electric vehicle (EV) charging stations that maximize coverage over a full range of Kenworth electric vehicles, with output power from 20 kilowatts (kW) to 350 kW. Customers can rely on the expertise of PACCAR Parts and its infrastructure partners to tailor EV charger solutions to fit the needs of any size and fleet. EV chargers can be purchased from Kenworth dealers.
