Bendix Reaches Wingman Milestone

Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems has reached a 10-year milestone in collision-mitigation technology since the production of its Bendix Wingman ACB — Active Cruise with Braking in 2009.

The latest generation of Wingman Fusion — whose radar, camera and brake system are linked to gather, share and confirm information and communicate with the brakes — is poised for release later this year, according to the Elyria, Ohio-based company.

“The foundational technology of all the Wingman systems goes back even further, to 2005, when we introduced the Bendix ESP electronic stability program, which was North America’s first widely available commercial vehicle full-stability system,” TJ Thomas, Bendix director of marketing and customer solutions — controls, said in a company release.
