Big G Express has Big Smiles for its T680 Signature Edition

Big G Express, out of Shelbyville, Tennessee, was quick to add a T680 Signature Edition truck. Operating close to 650 power units in an all-Kenworth fleet, the company is 100% employee-owned and has a major footprint in the South, Midwest and Northeast.

“The main reason we only buy Kenworths is the value both Kenworth and MHC Kenworth – Nashville bring to the table after the sale,” said Tim Tipps, VP of maintenance for Big G. “Knowing you have an advocacy group to help you through the issues of equipment uptime is critical. Whether it’s a parts issue, mechanical or design situation, it is comforting to know you can pick up the phone and know the person on the other end of the line is going to be working to solve our issue.”

Tipps said the company and drivers were excited when given the opportunity to purchase one of the first 100th Anniversary T680 Signature Edition trucks. “We jumped at the opportunity,” he said. “But, from the moment we accepted it, it became a challenge to decide who should get it. After some discussion, it became clear that our Driver of the Year deserved the unit. We have always celebrated our drivers of the year, but this one was special as the truck represented something special. With the interior enhancements along with the exterior styling – plus the black rims that all the drivers absolutely love — it represented something one-of-a-kind to the trucking industry and a mark in time for Kenworth. The T680 Signature Edition represents the best in innovation and excellence of the past and the future of trucking. Just like the truck, Big G’s Driver of the Year, William Hickerson, is just as special because he represents the best of what a driver should be, and there is no one more deserving to be in
this truck.”

Hickerson said he enjoys being in the truck, and the Signature Edition is garnering a lot of looks. “I wish more trucks looked like this,” he said. “I love the look of the truck – inside and outside – and it rides very smooth. It also showcases our company very well.”

And that’s what Tipps wanted to hear. “Being employee-owned, we want our driver/owners to be comfortable and drive the best equipment. That’s why we’re with Kenworth.”
