Kenworth K270E Battery Electric Vehicles Eligible For $100,000 Base Voucher Incentive Under New Jersey Program

The Class 6 Kenworth K270E zero emissions battery electric vehicles are eligible for a $100,000 base voucher incentive available to qualifying purchasers under the New Jersey Zero Emission Incentive Program (NJZIP).

The pilot program includes support for businesses and organizations purchasing new K270E models in the four designated greater community areas of Camden, Newark, New Brunswick and Shore areas. Battery electric vehicles are exempt from New Jersey sales tax. Lease deals are also eligible with a required term of at least 36 months. Applications are being accepted on a rolling basis and can be found at the NJZIP website (www.njeda.com/njzip).

The Kenworth K270E cabover is ideal for local pickup and delivery, as well as short regional haul operations. The K270E offers a direct-drive motor rated at 355 hp. The electric powertrain is available with high-density battery packs of 141 kWh, 209 kWh and 282 kWh that deliver up to a 100-, 150- and 200-mile range, respectively. The vehicle utilizes a DC fast-charging system capable of fast re-charge in as quick as one-hour. End-of-shift and overnight AC charging is also offered.

In addition to the K270E, the Kenworth “Driving To Zero Emissions” program also features the Class 7 K370E and Class 8 T680E battery electric vehicles, and PACCAR Parts charging stations.

The K370E also has a range of 100-200 miles and features a 469 hp direct drive motor. The T680E is designed for pickup and delivery, regional haul and drayage applications, and is available as a day cab as either a tractor or straight truck. The T680E has an 82,000 lb. gross vehicle weight rating and estimated 150-mile operating range, depending on application.

PACCAR Parts electric vehicle (EV) charging stations maximize coverage over a full range of Kenworth electric vehicles, with output power from 20 kilowatts (kW) to 350 kW. Customers can rely on the expertise of PACCAR Parts and its infrastructure partners to tailor EV charger solutions to fit the needs of any size and fleet. EV chargers can be purchased from Kenworth dealers.

The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection will award grants of up to $200,000 for fast charging stations infrastructure per location in community settings. More information is available on the agency’s website (www.drivegreen.nj.gov/plugin.html).

Kenworth customers with questions about any battery electric vehicle grants and incentive programs in the U.S. and Canada may contact Alec Cervenka of Kenworth (Alec.Cervenka@paccar.com /425-902-3275).
